Eight years finding brands that actually make things in Europe

I started European Craftsmanship as a personal research project in 2018, after months of trying and failing to find a pair of work shoes made in Europe. What began as a list of five brands grew past a hundred. By 2023 I was reviewing each one properly: reading their About pages, checking what they say about where production actually happens, building up a real collection.

At some point I wondered whether other people might be interested too, and share my passion and my nerdy, research-driven approach to buying decisions. I took the work public in September 2025. Within five months I had more than 95.000 people following me across social platforms, most of them looking for the same thing I had been: a way to find brands that produce in Europe and are transparent about it. In January 2026 I started building this platform so those brands would have a proper home.
