Studio Myr
Founded in 2012 by designer Miriam Lenarts, Studio Myr creates knitwear in small batches in the Netherlands. Miriam knits every sample herself before working with Rudi Rots of Knit-it, one of the country’s last remaining knitting factories, on production. Each garment is then finished by hand in her atelier in Thorn.

Colourful knitwear with stories behind the patterns.
Studio Myr caught my eye for its colour combinations and patterns with a meaning behind them. These are the kinds of pieces I would look at when I want something special.
I like Miriam’s story: she bought a knitting machine, taught herself and still knits every sample herself before handing it over to nearby factory Knit-it for production. She also explains how making small batches affects the price. That is useful context when you are comparing a piece from an independent designer with something made in much larger quantities.
The hand-finishing in her atelier and the offer of matching yarn for future repairs are thoughtful details. Her journal is worth a read too, with stories about the patterns, including the history of Aran knitting.
For myself, I would choose the Denîmes jumper in dark and light blue. The Merino Lace Tee in pearl, the Florentina top in teal and the Ibiza gradient tee are also on my list.
