Traditional craftsmanship, classic shoes
If you are looking for handmade luxury shoes with classic designs and the option to choose the material and sole, Crown Northampton is a brand I would point you to. Some models even allow you to choose different width options (F, G, H). Every pair is made to order in their own factory in Northampton, England.
It’s a family business in its fifth generation. They work with skilled shoemakers and apprentices, and I like that they introduce them on their Meet the Makers page. What I particularly appreciate is the Materials Guide. They name the tanneries they work with and explain the different leathers, why they use them and for which shoes. You can also find detailed information on each product page.
For myself, I would choose a classic sneaker like the Harlestone Derby in off-white or cognac. Those are shoes I could see myself wearing for years, perhaps even decades with good care and resoling when needed. I would also choose a pair for my partner, like the Grove Desert Shoe in black or brown.
